Cool Uses for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
When people hear about UAV’s, the first thought that comes to their minds is probably the drones that the U.S. military has been using with increasing regularity. However, there are tons of miniature UAVs out there that are proving to be very useful for a variety of tasks.
One unique way in which people have used small UAVs is in the real estate business. Some real estate agents use mini “drones” to take birds-eye photos of elegant houses for sale, or to get the full picture of a massive property from above. The UAVs can also be used to take video from the sky to use in advertisements or commercials.
Extreme sports photography has also found a use for the UAV. They are used to take action photos and videos of people skiing, base jumping or bungee jumping. The UAVs can follow a skier or base jumper as they are in action, and are capable of getting much better angles than if the person doing the activity was forced to hold a camera and snap a selfie while they were flying through the air.
Another awesome use for mini UAVs is researching the Earth’s atmosphere. Scientists are sending robotic flying vehicles into the stratosphere to take samples and to study the ozone. UAVs are becoming increasingly useful for scientists to conduct research where they may not be able to go safely.
